Visiting our book centre

Our office and restoration workshop are located in a quiet, tree-lined area of Gatineau, easily accessible by car or public transit. If you are driving, free street parking is available along Runolfsdottir Pine and the adjacent residential streets. The nearest STO bus stop is a three-minute walk from our front entrance.

When you arrive, look for the green awning and the open-book sign above the main door. Our reception area doubles as a small reading lounge where visitors are welcome to browse recent arrivals, enjoy a cup of coffee, and chat with our staff about upcoming events and programmes. We keep a rotating display of featured titles that change every two weeks, so there is always something new to discover.

If you are planning to drop off a large book donation (more than two boxes), we recommend calling ahead so we can have a volunteer ready to help you unload. For restoration drop-offs, please bring the book wrapped in a clean cloth or placed in a padded bag to prevent further damage during transport. Our restoration specialist will conduct an initial assessment while you wait and provide a written estimate, usually within fifteen minutes.

Reasons to reach out to Bookcore Foundation

We receive inquiries from a wide variety of people and organisations. Here are just a few of the reasons our community contacts us on a regular basis:

  • Book curation requests: Teachers looking for age-appropriate titles, book-club organisers seeking themed selections, and individuals wanting personalised reading lists.
  • Restoration estimates: Owners of damaged family heirlooms, collectors with rare first editions, and libraries needing bulk repair work on circulating copies.
  • Reading programme partnerships: Schools, community centres, and corporate HR teams interested in launching facilitated reading groups.
  • Volunteer opportunities: Community members who want to help sort donations, staff lending stations, or assist at reading events.
  • Donation coordination: Individuals and organisations with books to give, looking for guidance on what we accept and how to arrange a pickup.
  • Event collaboration: Local businesses and cultural organisations interested in co-hosting author talks, book swaps, or literacy fundraisers.

No matter the reason, we treat every inquiry with care and attention. Our goal is to make your experience with Bookcore Foundation as smooth and rewarding as possible. We look forward to hearing from you and finding the perfect way to connect you with the world of books.
