We provide four core services: book curation, community lending, book restoration, and structured reading programmes. Our curation service helps individuals and institutions discover titles that align with their interests or educational needs. Community lending brings free access to thousands of volumes through neighbourhood stations and pop-up libraries. Restoration covers everything from rebinding to archival cleaning of rare or sentimental books. Finally, our reading programmes offer facilitated group experiences for schools, workplaces, and clubs.

Borrowing is completely free and does not require a membership card. Simply visit any of our lending stations, choose a book that interests you, and take it home. We ask that you return it within four weeks so that others can enjoy it as well. If you would like to donate a book in exchange, that is always welcome but never required. Restoration costs depend on the extent of the damage and the materials required. Minor repairs such as spine reinforcement or page mending typically start at $35, while full rebinding or archival treatment of rare volumes may range from $120 to $400. We always provide a detailed written estimate before beginning any work, so there are no surprises. For community members experiencing financial hardship, we offer a sliding-scale fee programme — just let us know when you contact us.

Absolutely. While our curators love surprising readers with unexpected gems, we are equally happy to source specific titles. Simply let us know the author, title, edition, or even the general theme you are interested in, and we will do our best to locate it. We work with a network of publishers, distributors, and independent booksellers across Canada and internationally, which gives us access to a wide range of both current and out-of-print titles.

Our school reading programmes are designed in collaboration with educators to complement existing curricula. We begin with a planning session where we learn about the grade level, subject focus, and learning objectives. From there, we assemble a curated book list, prepare discussion guides, and assign a trained facilitator to lead weekly or biweekly sessions. Programmes typically run for eight to twelve weeks and conclude with a celebration event where students share their reflections. We have worked with elementary, secondary, and CEGEP-level institutions across the Outaouais region.

Yes, we gladly accept donations of gently used books in any language. Donated titles are sorted, cleaned, and either added to our lending stations, distributed to partner schools, or included in special community giveaway events. We ask that donated books be free of significant water damage, mould, or missing pages. You can drop off donations at our office during business hours or arrange a pickup for larger collections by contacting us at [email protected].

Our primary service area covers Gatineau and the broader Outaouais region, but we regularly fulfil requests from across Quebec and Ontario. Book curation and restoration services can be arranged remotely — we accept shipments from anywhere in Canada and return restored or curated books via insured mail. Reading programmes are currently offered in person within a 60-kilometre radius of our Gatineau office, though we are exploring virtual facilitation options for more distant communities.
